This race will challenge you! Although Trapp lodge has some of the smoothest, most runnable trail around, they also boast some incredible single track. Steep climbs and descents and a newly updated climb to the highest point on the Trapp Lodge Property; Round Top Mountain! The 13.1 mile loop course is approximately 2/3 double track wide trails and dirt roads, and 1/3 serpentine, rugged single track. Full marathon racers will traverse this loop twice. This is a challenging trail race with significant elevation gain and loss and some steep scrambling segments.
If you have run CATAMOUNT ULTRA you have seen the great trail system at Trapp Lodge but this course is very different!

If you plan to preview the course, please take note:
The cattle may be in fenced-in areas that are on part of the course. They are moved around the property on a rotating schedule. Do not enter these areas with the cows. There are bulls, and can be dangerous! Please take a trail map with you so you can find an alternative option around these areas. The cows will be located in a safe place on race day.

AID STATION DETAILSThis race will be organized like an ultra distance trail race. The course will include three aid stations. Aid stations are at approximately 4 miles, 9 miles, and one at the start/finish area. Half marathon racers will only have access to two aid stations while on course. Racers are encouraged to use their own judgement about fueling, but carrying hydration, gels, etc. is highly encouraged. Each aid station will be stocked with typical ultra event fuel and hydration. Trapp Mountain Marathon is CUP FREE! All runners must carry a hydration pack, bottle or fold-able cup to access liquids at aid stations. Help us reduce race waste! If you have additional food specific needs, please make sure you come prepared! While we do not have a designated drop service, we will have a designated area at the start/finish for full marathon runner drop bags. You can place your bags there pre-race and pick them up whenever you like! There will also be a supply of Band Aids, Vaseline, and duct tape, plus a few other basic first aid supplies but there will not necessarily be first aid care givers at all aid stations. We will have volunteer medical caregivers at the start/finish. Crew support is only allowed at aid stations!

SPECTATORS
Racer crews and spectators are welcome anywhere on the course, but driving access is only available at the start/finish area at the Trapp Family Lodge Outdoor Center. We certainly would encourage spectators to hike out into the beautiful forest to cheer on our competitors but please make sure your friends/family take a map and appropriate supplies, there's a lot of forest out there!
